Umalusi is the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training is a statutory Quality Council.

Its purpose is to quality-assure education provision in General and Further Education and Training.

Junior ICT Infrastructure Technician

  • (1 YEAR) Fixed Term Contract
  • Salary (per annum): R 317,469

Requirements

  • National Diploma (NQF Level 6/7) in Information and Communication Technology: Infrastructure and User Support Management, or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in ICT infrastructure and user support management or ICT Helpdesk
  • Knowledge of IT service management or ICT helpdesk experience is preferred.

  • At least one of the following certifications: A+ or N+ or ITIL Foundation.
  • Advanced skills in M365 Office Suite (e.g. MS Word, Excel).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with strong communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Capable of working independently and under pressure, adaptable, disciplined, and confident. Proficiency in writing and interpersonal communication.

Duties

  • Provide ICT helpdesk services, serving as the first point of contact, documenting incidents, classifying, and prioritizing them, and escalating unresolved issues to higher support levels.
  • Co-ordinate and implement computer rollout projects to ensure seamless integration and minimal operational disruption.

  • Provide comprehensive support for local area network (LAN) and desktop infrastructure.
  • Manage and troubleshoot a range of mobile devices, including notebooks, iPads, and tablets.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, maintaining documentation on activities and system performance.

Requirements

  • A 3-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information and Communication Technology
  • 3 year of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge in Natural Adabas will be an advantage
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of computer fundamentals which include MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook.

Duties

  • Design, create and maintain mainframe programs on the Umalusi quality assurance and certification system.
  • Provide training to end users on systems or applications developed.
  • Provide end user support on the system.
  • On the job training provided to successful candidates
