Qualifications
- Grade 9 / ABET Level 3 or equivalent
- Locomotive Driver Qualification
- At least 1-year experience in an underground mining environment.
- If applicable: Blast Assistant Certificate.(for transporting of explosives only)
- Competent B certificate
- Working at heights training. (if applicable)
- Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
- Clean security-screening record.
Duties and Responsibilities
SHE • Compliance to SHE standards, regulations and practices. • Adhere to PPE requirements. • Conduct safe behavioral observations (SBOs). • Attending and leading SHE meetings.
Participate in SHE campaigns. Machine Operation and Maintenance • Adherence to operating standards and requirements. • Complete a locomotive pre-use checklist on a daily basis and ensure that the locomotive and associated RBE is well maintained and in good working order.
Effective utilisation of Locomotive and RBE to achieve targets within set quality standards. • Utilise signals to communicate operational actions and adhere to the rules and regulations as set out in the traffic management plan within the assigned area.
Safe and effective transportation of ore, production materials/equipment, man carriages and explosives. • Adhere to maintenance schedules. • Ensure locomotive and associated RBE is kept in a clean and working order. Administration and Reporting
Prepare and plan work priority list and resource requirements in order to complete tasks. • Liaise with operational personnel in the working area to coordinate efforts.
Liaise with the Tramming Team Leader to obtain work schedules and operational requirements. • Report defects to Locomotive and associated RBE to Tramming Team Leader.
