Afrimat Industries South Africa (Pty) Ltd based in Lichtenburg has a vacancy for: Control Room Operator x2 posts.

The candidates must be medically fit in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act and the Company standards for medical fitness.

Minimum Qualification/ Experience

  • Matric, Tertiary qualification would be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ service in any cement plant.
  • Be literate and functionally numerate.

  • Pre-employment medical required.
  • Strong communication skills for effective coordination.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to protocols.

  • Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts and respond to emergencies

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Control all major process lines within the cement manufacturing operation including equipment commissioning, start- ups, shutdowns, and emergency condition management as per established SOPs in order to meet production requirements.

  • Monitor continuously, all plant process lines using all available tools to ensure employee safety, stable equipment operation, equipment integrity within prescribe design limitations, operating targets, and environmental regulations.
  • Control product quality at all stages of the cement manufacturing process by having a clear understanding of the targets, and the levers that are used to control the targets, along with the appropriate decision-making process based on the impact of each lever.

  • Coordinate plant resources to troubleshoot, inspect, and maintain plant equipment as required, to meet production demands and prevent failures.
  • Maintain awareness of the automation system control strategy and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the plant organization in both verbal and written format.
  • Maintain awareness of plant operating costs. Considers these costs regularly in the decision-making process.
  • Responsible for timely communication of stoppages/ production issues/resources shortage

  • Responsible for smooth shift handover with clear report on issues faced during the preceding shift.
