Gauteng Partnership Fund (GPF) is an agency of the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements (GDHS) with the mandate to attract public and private sector capital into low income housing sector.

Job Purpose

The main function of the Finance Intern is to assist Gauteng Partnership Fund (GPF) Finance Team with various generalist finance responsibilities.

The Intern will gain exposure to the day to day processes which will include Accounts Payable, Cashbook reconciliations and other departmental administration processes.

Key Performance Areas

The incumbent is expected to deliver on the following detailed key performance areas:

  1. Accounts Payable
    1. Assist in capturing of transactions on accounting system
    2. Assist in ensuring cash claim expenditure is accurately and timeously captured across the business
    3. Assist in the preparation of processing payments onto the banking system
  2. Cash Books
    1. Assist in processing entries on the bank accounts on the accounting system
    2. e.g. payment runs, bank charges and interest
    3. Assist with preparation of bank reconciliations
    4. Upload bank statements for all bank accounts onto the Intranet
  3. Petty Cash Claims
    1. Assist in accurately and timeously capturing petty cash expenditure across the business, as required
    2. Participate in outstanding claims investigations and executing new applications of petty cash.
  4. Economic Development & BEE Reporting
    1. Assist in preparing quarterly ED reporting submissions and collation of data
    2. Assist in the preparation of data and sample selection for the BEE audits
  5. Teamwork
    1. Ability to work closely with others
    2. Being pro-active in assisting others
    3. Contribution to business unit meetings and brain storming sessions
    4. Mentoring and coaching of interns and peers 
  6. Adhoc duties
    1. And any other duties, as assigned by the Line Manager, in line with the role.
    2. Assignments from the CEO and CFO as and when required

Skills and Technical Competencies

  • High attention to detail and delivery-orientated
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Excellent MS Word and MS Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Able to solve problems logically
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work in a team
  • Able to manage time, prioritize and adhere to strict deadlines
  • Able and willing to learn.

Qualifications

  • BCom or National Diploma graduate, or equivalent NQF level 6 & 7 qualifications, with Accounting or Finance as a major.
  • No applicable experience is required.
  • Candidates who have an in-service training experience will be considered.
