Bursary Highlights
The Department of Cooperative Governance (DCoG) through the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) invites applications for Bursay Programme 2025.

The Bursray seeks to fund students studying or intend pursuing an Undergraduate/ Post-Graduate/ Masters full programme in Disaster Management or Fire Technology/ Engineering qualification.
The funding excludes Certificate courses and PhD qualifications. The studies must be at a recognised Public Higher Institution of South Africa.
Allowances
The Bursary Programme will cover 100% tuition fees, including registration and research allowance (capped at R11 000,00).
Conditions of Eligibility
Applicants must be a South African citizens, and have been accepted/ registered/ applied for an Undergraduate/ Post-Graduate/ Masters full programme in Disaster Management or Fire Technology/ Engineering qualification at a recognised Public Higher Institution of South Africa (Certificate courses or PhD qualifications will NOT be considered for this funding)
Requirements
Undergraduate Applicants
- Certified copy of a valid South African Identity Document;
- Certified copy of a National Senior Certificate(NSC);
- Brief Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages);
- Undergraduate applicants must have NSC with an average of 60% and above;
- Post-graduate applicants must have latest qualification at a recognised Higher Institution of South Africa with an average of 60% and above;
- Enrolled applicants must have mid-year academic results with an average of 60% and above;
- Proof of acceptance/ registration/ application for a full programme in Disaster Management or Fire Technology/ Engineering qualification at a recognised Public Higher Institution of South Africa;
- Unemployed applicants must have proof of household income of less than R350 000,00per annum or a detailed affidavit in the case of zero-household income; and
- Employed applicants must have proof of income of less than R350 000.00 per annum.
Post-Graduate Applicants
- Certified copy of a valid South African Identity Document;
- Certified copy of a National Senior Certificate(NSC);
- Brief Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages highlighting previous and current employment and academic qualifications where applicable);
- Latest qualification at a recognised Higher Institution of South Africa with an average of 65%and above;
- Enrolled applicants must have mid-year academic transcript with an average of 65% and above;
- Proof of application/ acceptance/ registration for a full programme in Disaster Management or Fire Technology/ Engineering qualification at a recognised Public Higher Institution of South Africa;
- 1-2 page concept note of proposed Masters research on one of the 16 Priority ThematicAreas (i.e., outlining the Research Topic, Background/ Introduction, Research Problem, Research Objectives & Methods): A guideline on the thematic areas is available onhttps://onlinebursary.ndmc.gov.za/.
