Who can Apply?
- Students currently in Grade 12 academic year;
- Currently registered students at Institutions of Higher Learning and require funding for the 2024 academic year
- Students that have completed matric (Senior Certificate) and are currently studying or intending to study related qualifications or intending to study qualifications;
Eligibility for the Bursary
- The applicant must be a South African citizen;
- Applying for qualifications specified in the advert only;
- Students studying towards an academic qualification; The bursary targets applicants in the youth sector;
- Registering for university for a qualification
- Previously disadvantaged with demonstrated potential with a minimum pass mark of 60%;
- Not in receipt of any other bursaries
What the Bursary covers
The bursary is valued at R120 000 that will go towards students’ needs such as tuition fees, accommodation costs, textbooks and food.
We fund all tertiary institutions within South Africa. A monetary incentive awarded for academic excellence:
- 65 – 69 % → R5000
- 70 – 74% → R10 000
- 75% and above → R15 000
Study Areas and Selection Criteria
Selections will be done on the following criteria:
- Learners currently in matric
- University students currently pursuing studies in Geosciences, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, IS and IT
- Pass rate required – meet the minimum requirement stipulated by the Institution
- Preference given to:
- Learners from previously disadvantaged areas
- Female students
- Passion and interest in upstream oil and gas industryStudents with plans to go into the upstream oil and gas industry
- Students wishing to, or already undertaking studies relevant to the petroleum, oil and gas industries such as:
- Geoscience
- Geophysics
- Electrical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Mechatronics
- Computer Science
- Industrial Engineering
- Information Systems
- Information Technology
- Chemistry
- Physical Science
- Maths
Students meeting minimum requirements of the university and field of study they are applying for.

Application with missing document will not be considered.
Required Documents
- Grade 12/Matriculants (Prospective 1st year Students) NB. All copies must be certified • Certified Grade 12 Statement of Results/ Matric Certificate •
- Certified ID copy of applicant;
- Certified ID copies of parents/guardian;
- Proof of application for study at an Institution of Higher Learning (where acceptance letter is not yet received);
- Acceptance letter from Institution of Higher Learning;
- Quotations for tuition fees, accommodation, if applicable
