The Department of Economic Development, Tourism & Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) invites applications for the Emerging Designers Incubation Programme 2024/ 2025.

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development and Environmental Affairs is mandated to oversee the socio-economic transformation in the province.
The KZN EDTEA is looking for emerging KZN based emerging designers who are currently running a formal or informal creative design business i.e. crafters, fashion designers, accessories designers, etc. to be part of the 2024-2025 EMERGING DESIGNERS INCUBATION PROGRAMME.
About the Incubation Programme
Calling All KZN Emerging Designers! Hey, KZN creatives! Are you a fashion designer, crafter, or accessories genius running your own business (formal or informal)? Then this is for you!
The Department of Economic Development, Tourism & Environmental Affairs is on the hunt for fresh talent to join the 2024-2025 Emerging Designers Incubation Programme.
This is your chance to level up, get noticed, and take your creative business to the next level.
It therefore leads the policy and strategic initiatives directed at promoting development and growth in various sectors of the economy.
Who can Apply?
- Individuals who are business- minded, have a passion for designing and possess strong entrepreneurial skills;
- Must possess a matric certificate and be between the ages of 25 – 45;
- Must be computer literate and have access to Wi-Fi;
- Applicants must reside in KZN and be a South African citizen;
- Must be able to submit a creative product portfolio in clothing, footwear and/or accessories to showcase your product range that you produce for retail; – This can be sent as a company portfolio and/or picture of the items you sell/retail;
- Must have own transportation/accommodation for on-site sessions – Strictly no transportation will be provided by the Department;
- Must have access to Wi-Fi/internet for online sessions;
- Self employed creatives with registered business;
- Applicants must be available to attend a full – time programme virtually and in person (no transport or accommodation will be provided); 90% participation is required for completion certification;
- Applicants must not have participated in a similar EDTEA programme before.
