The UKZN Science and Technology Education Centre invites graduates to apply for the two-year-fixed term Internship Programme 2024/ 2026.

STEC@UKZN) is an accredited Science Centre based on the Westville Campus, whose aim is to stimulate an interest in Science and Engineering and to present UKZN as a Centre of excellence in Agriculture, Engineering and Science.

The Centre offers science exhibits and educational resources, science shows and talks and trips, as well as workshops and a career corner. 

Duties and Responsibilities

The STEC Intern will report to the Science Centre Coordinator and will be required to assist with all Science-Centre related duties. 

These include, but are not limited to, Science workshops and Science shows both at the Science Centre and out in the field at schools; developing workshop materials; administrative duties; and technical maintenance of display materials

The hours of duty may, at times, involve after hours and weekend responsibilities. Driving forms part of everyday activities

STEC@UKZN is part of the Public Relations Unit within the College of Agriculture, Engineering and Science, and as such is involved in public relations activities of the College as and when required

Minimum requirements

  • A BSc Hons or BSc Eng degree
  • Physics at University level
  • Good communication skills – verbal and written
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet packages
  • A valid driver’s license
