The South African Police Service (SAPS) is on an alternative recruitment drive for Motor Vehicle Mechanic x48 posts in all Provinces
Closing date: 01 November 2024
POST: Motor Vehicle Mechanic: Automotive Motor Mechanic, Petrol/ Diesel (Constable)
LOCATION: SAPS Garage (Mechanical Services), various Provinces
LEVEL OF REMUNERATION: (Band A) R226 188 per annum
SAPS is the national police force of the Republic of South Africa. The SAPS is currently undertaking a special recruitment drive through head hunting to fill various critical vacancies.
Compulsory Generic Requirements
The requirements of the posts are as follows:
Be proficient in at least two official languages, of which one must be English
Must be a South African Citizen
Be in possession of at least a valid light motor vehicle driver’s license
Must have no previous convictions or pending criminal / departmental or civil cases
Must not have tattoo marks which will be visible when wearing any SAPS uniform
Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening and fingerprint verification.
Relevant valid Trade Test Certificate in the field of the post, in terms of the Skills Development Amendment Act 37/2008
Experience in the relevant field of the post will be an advantage.
Core Functions
Perform quality and cost effective repairs and maintenance of SAPS vehicles
Ensure a clean and safe working environment
Diagnose, strip and determine the parts required for services and repairs
Complete parts request list for the parts required per vehicle
Complete job card with regards to work done and actual time taken
Ensure safe keeping of tools and equipment
Mentor apprentices under supervision
Comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (Act 83 of 1995)
