- A good understanding of soil science and how soils relate to rehabilitation.

- Thorough understanding of different techniques that can be used for rehabilitation.
- Basic background relating to wetland assessments and practical knowledge on the principles of wetland rehabilitation.
- Understanding of practical methods of rehabilitation that are both feasible and cost effective.
- Understanding of ecological principals and the impacts of mining on these both pre and post mining.
- Legal knowledge associated with rehabilitation.
- Knowledge of potential shortcomings related to existing sites that have been rehabilitated and how to address these shortcomings.
- Knowledge of monitoring protocols that can be implemented post rehabilitation to monitor the success of rehabilitation.
- Good verbal and writing skills.
- Strong knowledge of the mining industry;
Mine Closure Internship

Digby Wells Environmental is looking for a young dynamic Mine Closure Intern who will assist with carrying out mine closure liability assessments and developing mine closure strategies and plans.
In addition to this the candidate will be required to identify and calculate mine closure costs.
Qualifications
- BSc. Engineering/Environmental Science or similar.
- MSc. Degree would be beneficial.
- Certificate in GIS would be beneficial.
- Experience with Model Maker Systems would be beneficial.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
