The AmaZulu High Performance Department is looking to recruit a sport science intern to our team from January 2025 for a 1-year internship.

The purpose of this opportunity is to provide the next step to graduates to continue their development in a nurturing environment with continual mentorship and support.
About the Internship Programme
Job Description:
- Sport Science support and interventions and performance testing encompassing sport physiology, data analysis and strength & conditioning to AmaZulu FC players.
- Contribute to the potential research outputs of the High-Performance Department.
- Monitoring of players and updating AmaZulu’s athlete monitoring system.
- The job will encompass working in but not limited to the AmaZulu FC Academy and may require from time-to-time, involvement in Senior team training sessions or senior team related administration.
- Stock take of medical consumables and strength training equipment.
- Participation in the High-Performance department’s monthly education workshops.
Qualifications
- Honours degree in Sport Science or Biokinetics.
- Evidence of experience (i.e. practical hours complete) working in the field of Sports Science.
- Computer based / Microsoft Office competency.
Other Requirements
Desirable Requirements
- Interest and or experience in Football.
- Strength & Conditioning Certification (CSCS or equivalent).
- Athlete management and monitoring experience.
- Data Analytics experience.
- Research, i.e evidence of post graduate research, data collection, research methodology, statistical analysis, literature review skills.
Other requirements/qualities:
- Ability to work within a coach driven and multidisciplinary system.
- Passion and understanding of the industry and profession.
- Great people skills: Collaboration, initiative, honesty, professionalism, patience.
- Able to work under pressure.
Salary and Contract
- The salary offered will be an entry level, intern-based salary/stipend.
- The opportunity is based on a fixed term, 1-year contract.
