- Position: Risk & Insurance Intern

- Reporting to: Group Head: Risk & Insurance
Location: Sandton
Core purpose of the role
The Risk and Insurance Intern role interfaces with senior people in the organisation, including members of the Group Exco, Divisional CEOs and their respective Exco members as well as Non-Executive Directors and their respective subcommittees; including external stakeholders: Insurance Brokers, Markets, Short term and long term insurers, IISA, IRMSA, Lloyds.
Assist with the day-to-day activities of the BCO and the Group Risk & Insurance functions which include the following
Key deliverables and outputs
- Assist with preparation for the quarterly divisional risk committee meetings
- Assist with preparation for the quarterly Group risk committee meetings
- Assist with preparation for the quarterly Group risk committee meetings
- Assist Group Head: Risk & Insurance with all ERM requirements
- Assist with progressing the Group’s risk maturity
- Prepare Weekly insights of ERM
- Attend all risk meetings and keep notes of same
- Assist with preparation for the Group Insurance Renewal
- Assist with preparation for the weekly insurance meetings
- Keep record of all short term insurance claims
- Attend all insurance meetings and keep notes of same
- Ensure all membership invoices are settled timeously
- Preparation of monthly invoices
- Attend to all day to day functions pertaining to risk and insurance
- General Admin and Assistance
Internal customers
- All support functions; Divisions etc.
External stakeholders
- Short Term and Long Term Insurance Companies, IISA, IRMSA, Brokers, Markets
Academic qualifications
- Essential: Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Risk Management & Insurance
Work Experience
- Advantageous: No experience required
Knowledge
Essential:
- Short Term Insurance Act
- COSO, King IV, ISO Knowledge
- Certificate of Proficiency (IISA)
