You could be the kind of student we’re looking for and the Fairtree Bursary could be for you. You know where you’re going, but just need a bit of help in getting there.

We’ve been committed to youth and skills development since 2003 and our bursary programme forms part of our commitment to growth and providing opportunities to young people to enter the sector.

What the Fairtree Bursary covers

The Bursray is here to help you reach your full potential through mentorship and career development opportunities.

It provides full university tuition, books, and more, with the added possibility of employment upon graduation.

Eligibility

  • To apply, you must be a South African Citizen and hold a valid South African ID Document.
  • You should have excelled in your Grade 12 academic year achieving an average of 65% or higher.
  • You must also have proof of acceptance from an Institute of Higher Learning and be in need of financial assistance.
  • Academically we need you to supply a certified copy of your June exam results if still in Matric, and a certified copy of your final Matric results.
  • You should have excelled in English and two other subjects.

If you’re currently studying at a Tertiary Institute you can also apply and must give us up to date academic records.

We urge you to check that you include all the following to ensure your application meets all our requirements:

4. All academic records
5. Non-academic achievements
6. Testimonial letter from a teacher or lecturer
7. Details of expenses involved
8. Acceptance letter from University, giving full details of untended course to be studied
9. Parents/ Guardians ID document

Please note:

Fairtree reserves the right to request any further information.

Preference will be given to students from a disadvantaged background and female applicants.

Students who do not perform satisfactorily will lose the opportunity of continued financial support.

Tell us about the areas you have excelled in during Grade 11 & 12 outside of academics, such as extra-curricular awards and recognition.

To give you the best financial support, please detail all expenses involved in your chosen field of study, including proof of tuition fees and the financial assistance you’ll need. Acceptance letter from University, giving full details of untended course to be studied.

Also include a testimonial letter from a teacher or lecturer.

If studies are terminated, we have the right to halt any further assistance and to expect that the bursary holder repays the value of the financial assistance provided.

All bursary holders are required to reapply annually for funding by completing the necessary application forms.

Financial assistance to students will be based on available funding.
