FIXED TERM CONTRACT ENDING ONE MONTH AFTER THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTION IN 2026. Please note only applications reflecting the reference number (above) will be considered.
The DA wishes to appoint dynamic, self-motivated and goal driven individuals, who will be based at our Federal Head Office in Cape Town.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Policy Unit Manager, with an indirect reporting line to the Head of Policy.
Duties and Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
- Contributing to the research, consulting, writing and presenting of DA policy, including documents and position papers that flow from it
- Giving practical effect to the DA’s vision of an Open Opportunity Society for All as well as the values, principles, and ideals on which it is founded
- Understanding and applying the Party’s strategy as it relates to the DA’s policy programme
Qualifications
Prospective applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, ideally in social sciences, public policy, law, or economics
- Computer literacy essential, particularly MS Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyse, synthesise, and present complex information (qualitative and quantitative) in an understandable manner
- Strong administrative skills essential
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work with large amounts of information in a systematic fashion under tight deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organisational and planning abilities
- Systematic, comprehensive and displaying excellent attention to detail
- Commitment to the principles, policies and programme of action of the Party
- Ability to work effectively and energetically around a demanding work schedule, including working irregular hours on a frequent basis
- Outcomes-orientated, not simply task-orientated
- Applicants MUST be in possession of a valid driver’s license and have access to an insured vehicle for occasional use
