Cleaner
Reporting Line : Manager: Facilities Management
Overall, Job Purpose : To undertake cleaning duties as directed by the Cleaning Supervisor, using the prescribed methods and frequencies in line with the requirements of the cleaning specifications.
Knowledge and Experience
- At least 06 months working experience.
- Ability to read and write will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, and procedures.
Food Service Assistant X2
Reporting Line : Manager: Facilities Management
Overall Job Purpose : To assist generally with rendering of food service related duties including preparation, presentation and service of food and catering within the canteen operations, in all its forms, across the CGS.
Knowledge and Experience
- 1 year experience in food services and/or catering environment
- Knowledge of food service processes
- Understanding of proper use of major kitchen equipment
- Commitment to quality service and food knowledge
- Knowledge of hygiene and safety standards
- Understanding and knowledge of food safety law
- Computer skills including Ms Office suite particularly Word & Excel.
Business Unit Administrator
Reporting Line : Manager: Asset Management
Overall Job Purpose : The incumbent will undertake a wide variety of unit/project administrative support in the Council for Geoscience, specifically in the Asset Management unit. The support will be focused on the achievement of the mandate of the Council for Geoscience.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
- Grade 12.
- National Diploma (NQF 6) in Office Administration or equivalent qualification.
- 3 -5 years’ working experience in Office Administration and/or Secretarial duties.
- Must be computer literate in MS Office.
Editor
Reporting Line : Manager: Knowledge Management
Overall, Job Purpose: Edit and do layout of manuscripts, publications and reports (bulletins, explanations, memoirs, corporate publications and administrative documents) and ensure that they are published and released timeously. Review and quality manage internal reports and documents for submission to relevant stakeholders.
Knowledge and Experience
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in editing, proofreading, and manuscript layout.
- Experience in linguistic editing and manuscript layout.
- Editing and Review experience in the geoscientific field.
- Ability to perform proofreading (spelling and grammar), editing, and rewriting.
- Demonstrable and proven success in developing and completing a publication concerning editing.
- The ability to translate written literature between English and at least one South African language and one international language respectively will be an added advantage.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 and;
- BA in English, journalism, communications, or a relevant field.
Regional Coordinator
Reporting Line : Manager: Facilities Management
Overall, Job Purpose: To render effective and efficient office management, coordination, perform administration and secretarial support services with Pietermaritzburg Regional Office of the Council for Geoscience.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 and;
- Office Administration Diploma (NQF Level 6) or equivalent qualification.
Senior Technical Officer
Reporting Line : Manager – Technical Services
Overall, Job Purpose: To execute drilling for geotechnical assessment, groundwater studies and other geoscientific research boreholes using multifunctional reverse circulation and percussion drill rig, with related drilling equipment and technologies.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of Grade 10 qualification.
- Valid driver’s license Code 10 (C1).
- Valid code 14 driver’s license (EC) with PDP and experience of driving four axle, 8 x 4 heavy duty trucks will be an added advantage.
- Valid training certificates of drilling methods for reverse circulation and percussion will be an advantage.
GIS Senior Technical Officer
Reporting Line : Manager: Knowledge Management
Overall, Job Purpose: The management, collation, curation, analysis and dissemination of all geotechnical data in the CGS. Managing and undertaking the process of precise digitising and centralising all geotechnical data, largely using GIS for the generation of relevant products and advanced research
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 and;
- National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in GIS or Science or equivalent plus 5 years working experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree / B-Tech degree in GIS or equivalent plus three years working experience.
