Bursary Overview

Applications are now open for the Golden Valley Wind Farm Bursary Programme 2025.

Closing Date: 05 December 2024

Susscessful applicants will be required to participate in an intense monthly mentorship programme, designed to make sure they are highly employable whne they graduate.

They will also receive full wrap-around support in the form of private tutoring, paid for by the sponsor.

About Golden Valley Wind Farm

Golden Valley Wind Farm is a 120MW onshore wind project, situated near to the towns of Bedford, Cookhouse, Adelaide and Somerset East.

The facility is located within the Blue Crane Route Local Municipality, within the Sarah Baartman District Municipality, in the Eastern Cape.

About the Bursary Programme

The Golden Valley Wind Farm Bursary is available for various degrees or certificates for students Born/Living/Schooled within 50km from the Golden Valley Wind Farm (Eastern Cape) , encompassing the following communities: Adelaide, Bedford, Cookhouse or Somerset East.

Please make sure your home town falls within one of the communities listed above.

What the Bursary covers

The bursary is for students from previously disadvantaged groups (low-income BBBEE designated applicants), and it covers the full-cost of tertiary studies. 

  1. Tuition 
  2. Accommodation & Meals
  3. Living stipends
  4. Book & stationery allowances 

Who can Apply?

Applicants must be: 

  1. South African citizens
  2. Born/Living/Schooled within 50km of the Golden Valley Wind Farm , from the Eastern Cape communities of Adelaide, Bedford, Cookhouse or Somerset East.
  3. In 2024; be studying matric or on a gap-year after matric in 2023/2022/2021
  4. In 2025; be studying for a SAQA-registered tertiary qualification
  5. Belong to a BBBEE racial designated group (Black, Coloured, Indian, etc)
  6. Studying full-time (2025 onwards). 
  7. Studying at any DHET/SAQA-recognized tertiary school/university/college. 
  8. Unemployed (not working full-time in 2025 or during any year while on the bursary),
  9. Students with other bursaries/NSFAS will have to terminate their other funding contracts if they want to accept an offer of this bursary

Have applied to study in 2025 or have already been accepted for registration in 2025. 

Bursaries are offered only for studies leading to SAQA-registered higher certificates, diplomas, degrees or equivalent NQF-rated qualifications.

  • Applications that are incomplete and that include misrepresentations will immediately be disregarded.
  • Please ensure that you attach ALL of the Required Documents
  • Closing date for application type:
    • 2025 Golden Valley Wind Farm Bursary closes: Thursday, 05 December 2024 at 12 midday.
  • Bursary allocation year for application type:
    • 2025 Golden Valley Wind Farm Bursary will be allocated for the 2025 academic year

When will you receive feedback:

Feedback will ONLY be sent to successful candidates within 12 weeks after closing date. If you have not heard back from us within those 12 weeks, please consider your application unsuccessful. 

Bursaries will be awarded in line with the Employment Equity plan of the organisation. 

You may consider your application unsuccessful if you don’t hear from us within 12 weeks of the applications closing.
