𝘌𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦, 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘪𝘮 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘶𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘶𝘯𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭.
ELIGIBILITY
Citizenship: Applicants must be South African citizens.
Fields of Study: Open to students pursuing or intending to pursue qualifications in:
- Materials Science
- Metallurgical Engineering
- Physics (specializing in photonics is preferable)
- Mechatronic Engineering
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate:
- Minimum of 60% in Pure Mathematics.
- Preliminary Grade 12 results must have an average of 70% (excluding Life Orientation).
Masters:
- A Bachelor of Science Honours in a related field with a minimum weighted average of 65%.
PhD:
- A Research Master’s degree in a related field.
- Applicants must identify and approach an academic supervisor before applying.

Accepting applications from students attending or intending to attend:
- University of the Witwatersrand (WITS)
- Stellenbosch University (SU)
- Nelson Mandela University (NMU)
- University of Pretoria (UP)
