The Department of Tourism provides bursary opportunities to South African students pursuing higher education in designated fields. This includes a range of qualifications from diplomas to PhDs.

Eligible Fields of Study

Applicants must be enrolled in one of the following fields:

Digital Technologies

Development Studies

Economics

International Relations

Migration Studies

Policy Development

Risk Management/ Ethics/ Integrity/Business Continuity Management

Graphic Design

Social Science

Tourism Development

Tourism Marketing

Bursary Conditions

• The bursary will cover the remainder of the study period.
• Renewable annually based on academic progress.
• Successful candidates are required to enter into a contractual obligation with the Department.

How to Apply

• Eligibility: This bursary is not available to current staff members of the Department of Tourism.
• Application Format:
  • Complete the application using block letters.
  • Provide concise answers; where applicable, mark accordingly.
• Document Submission:
  • Attach copies of required documents as indicated on page 8 (certified copies will be required post-selection).
• Application Timeliness:
  • Applications that are incomplete or submitted late will not be considered.
• Submission Methods:
  • Applications may be mailed or hand-delivered.
