Overview of the Position
Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) is inviting applications for the recruitment of 18 part-time lecturers in the Faculty of Economics and Finance, specifically for the Polokwane Campus.
The closing date for applications is December 5, 2024
The position is applicable for the period starting from February 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.
Class Schedule
Lecturers will be required to conduct classes on a flexible schedule:
- Day classes: 08:00 – 17:00
- Night classes: 17:15 – 21:15
Preference will be given to qualifying South African candidates.
Critical Performance Areas
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Prepare and conduct both contact and distance lectures.
- Demonstrate advanced presentation skills for varied teaching formats.
- Utilize technology effectively in teaching.
- Set and mark assessments for both formats.
- Participate in departmental and subject meetings.
- Manage general administrative tasks, including capturing marks, printing class lists, compiling learning materials, and uploading content to the university’s Learning Management System (LMS).
- Maintain student communication and consultations for both contact and distance learning.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a Master’s degree from a recognized university, along with a professional designation such as CA(SA) or CIA.
- Hold a Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) relevant to the specified field.
- Note: Candidates with only Honours degrees or Postgraduate Diplomas may be considered if a sufficient number of Master’s degree holders are not found.
- Provide a study record listing major subjects.
- Have at least three years of teaching (both contact and distance) and/or research experience at a tertiary institution, or relevant industry experience.
- Exhibit excellent writing, oral communication, presentation, and computer skills.
- Be proficient in MS Office and other educational technology software.
- Have full proficiency in English.
- Progress towards a Master’s degree is highly recommended.
- Membership in a professional body will be advantageous.
- Completion of the TUT License to Teach programme will be mandatory upon appointment.
