Job Description Summary:

  • Title: Graduate Trainee
  • Contract Duration: 12 months from the appointment date
  • Location: Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

Contract Length and Remuneration:

  • Full-time contract until 31 March 2026, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and organizational needs.
  • Three-month probation period.
  • Remuneration will be market-related, acknowledging GreenCape’s non-profit status. Medical aid benefits are available (subject to conditions).

The Sustainable Agriculture Programme

The aim of our Sustainable Agriculture Programme is to enhance job creation and investment in the green technologies and services that support the agricultural sector.

Graduate Trainee Position: GreenCape is looking for a motivated, aspiring individual to support innovative solutions in the sustainable agriculture sector.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience and collaborate with experts. The successful candidate will join the sustainable agriculture team, gaining skills and knowledge through various projects.

Qualifications/Education

Relevant Degree:

Sustainable Agriculture,

Engineering (including Chemical),

Science,

Finance,

Agricultural Economics,

Agronomy,

Crop/Soil Science, Extension and Production,

Animal Production,

or other related fields. A postgraduate degree is preferred.

Requirements

  • No prior work experience required.
  • A postgraduate degree is preferred.
  • Interest in a career in the green economy.
  • Computer literate, especially in MS Office and basic Excel.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Attention to detail.
  • A record of publications in the sector (advantageous).
  • Existing network in the sector of interest (advantageous).

Core Responsibilities

  • Participate in weekly team meetings.
  • Support the team in achieving project deliverables.
  • Conduct market research and data collection.
  • Assist with report writing and analysis.
  • Maintain the CRM system (Zoho).
  • Engage with stakeholders.
  • Support event coordination as needed.
  • Manage databases and updating weekly insights.
  • Review and prepare documents for funders.
  • Provide administrative support to the programme.
