The Wholesale and Retail Sector Education and Training Authority (W&RSETA) established a Bursary Scheme in 2011 to address skills shortages in the Sector Skills Plan.
This initiative is administered by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) and Career Wise, providing financial assistance to deserving students pursuing wholesale and retail qualifications.
Purpose
The W&RSETA recognizes the vital role of TVET colleges in addressing skills shortages in the country and aims to cultivate a skilled workforce.
The bursary scheme is designed to provide a pool of potential employees equipped with scarce and critical skills, thereby bridging the gap between supply and demand in the workforce while promoting the wholesale and retail sector as a viable career path.
Eligibility
The bursary scheme is open to learners aiming to study any retail-related qualifications at recognized institutions, including universities, universities of technology, and TVET Colleges (formerly known as FET Colleges) in South Africa.
