Job Description
As an Environmental Intern, you will assist the Environmental Officer in executing essential environmental management tasks.
This role is integral to ensuring compliance and supporting the achievement of environmental goals within the organization. Your responsibilities will include:
Required Outputs:
- Conducting environmental audits and inspections.
- Assisting in environmental monitoring and reporting tasks.
- Overseeing the maintenance of conservation areas and buffer zones.
- Investigating and managing pollution incidents.
- Monitoring the alien vegetation management program.
- Inspecting marine pipeline patrols.
- Communicating and liaising with service providers.
- Issuing work permits and conducting risk assessments for contractors.
- Overseeing micro departmental projects.
- Participating in weekly Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) inspections.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Matric/Grade 12 and a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Management/Science or an equivalent NQF qualification.
- Licensing: A valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge: Understanding of environmental management principles and practices.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in environmental monitoring and auditing techniques.
- Strong data collection and analytical skills.
