Position Overview

The Syrup Room Assistant works closely with the Syrup Maker and production team to ensure the correct preparation of syrups used in beverage manufacturing. The role involves handling raw ingredients such as sugar, assisting with mixing operations, and ensuring that all production activities meet the company’s hygiene and food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

As a Syrup Room Assistant, your duties may include:

  • Checking that sugar bags are clean and undamaged before use
  • Following FIFO (First-In, First-Out) procedures when handling ingredients
  • Adding the correct quantity of sugar during syrup preparation
  • Starting stirrers and ensuring sugar dissolves properly in tanks
  • Assisting with the preparation and mixing of beverage syrups
  • Keeping the syrup room and surrounding work areas clean
  • Ensuring proper storage of sugar on plastic pallets
  • Inspecting sugar deliveries for damage before use
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene and housekeeping
  • Following health, safety, and food safety policies
  • Reporting food safety issues to the Food Safety Team
  • Supporting the Syrup Maker and Shift Team Leader with operational tasks

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate

Experience

  • At least 6 months experience in the beverage industry

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Forklift License (FL License)
  • Ability to work in a production or manufacturing environment
  • Basic understanding of hygiene and safety procedures
