Job Overview

De Beers Group is offering Engineering Learnership opportunities aimed at developing skilled artisans in various engineering trades. Successful candidates will complete a structured training programme leading to a QCTO Occupational Qualification registered with the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA).

The programme combines formal training at the accredited training centre in Randfontein with on-the-job practical training at Venetia Mine. This learnership is designed to equip candidates with the technical expertise required to qualify as professional artisans.

Engineering Trades Available

Applicants can apply for the following occupational certificates:

  • Boilermaker (ID: 93626)
  • Instrument Mechanician (ID: 94701)
  • Electrician (ID: 91761)
  • Fitter and Turner (ID: 94020)
  • Diesel Mechanic (ID: 117237)
  • Transportation Electrician / Auto Electrician (ID: 117042)
  • Rigging (ID: 102856)

Nine positions are available for unemployed candidates from Blouberg and Musina Municipalities, while one position is available for Venetia employees.

Requirements

Minimum Educational Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 with:
    • Mathematics (not Maths Literacy)
    • Physical Science
    • English
    • Minimum 40% pass in all subjects

OR

  • N2 Certificate with four relevant subjects related to the chosen trade

OR

  • NCV Level 3 with at least 40% in Mathematics and relevant subjects

Trade-Specific Subject Requirements

Applicants must have relevant subjects depending on the trade, including combinations of:

  • Engineering Science
  • Engineering Drawing
  • Industrial Electronics
  • Trade Theory relevant to the selected discipline
  • Plating and Structural Steel Drawings
  • Fitting and Machining Theory
  • Diesel/Motor Trade Theory
  • Rigging Theory

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to travel to the Randfontein Training Centre (transport provided by the company)
  • Must obtain a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness Certificate) for mining work
  • Must pass psychometric and technical assessments
  • Must pass SAPS criminal record verification
  • Must pass qualification verification
