Contract: C4 (Full-Time)
The incumbent will report to the Information Management Leader.
Requirements
- Relevant academic degree e.g., BCom or National Diploma in Finance/Management Accounting
- Minimum of three years finance/management accounting experience, preferably within the mining industry
- Advanced computer literacy for the role (MS Office packages)
- Experience working with business ERP and reporting systems
- SAP and Hyperion Essbase experience will be advantageous
- Good business understanding with strong communication, coordination, and analytic skills
- Valid driver’s license (Code 08)
- Medical certificate of fitness to work in a mining environment
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with effective cost management for the business area, including controlling costs against target, highlighting deviations, and implementing corrective actions
- Ensure correct cost allocations and support/maintain activity costing systems
- Process month-end journals, settlements, re-postings, and compile provisions/accruals
- Assist with the preparation of the annual business area budget and load cost center budgets into reporting systems
- Oversee the purchase requisition process and liaise with stakeholders to ensure timely creation of purchase orders
- Monitor and review control and reporting issues, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and legislation
- Enable weekly cost reviews and monthly mine management reviews
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost control, and system efficiencies
- Ensure data integrity supporting financial information and reporting
- Support timely and accurate source data delivery for bonus administration
- Understand contractual obligations and ensure compliance, including payment verification and approval processes
- Perform administrative functions and contribute to the finance and information management team
Work Description
The Assistant Accountant is part of the business area accounting team, responsible for controlling, analyzing, and commenting on management information and reporting.
The primary focus is on cost control, analysis of production and cost variances, and reporting to the Business Area Accountant and relevant section heads.
