Job Overview
Exxaro is hiring Artisan Aides (X10) to join its Grootegeluk Coal division in Lephalale. This role involves supporting skilled artisans in the maintenance, servicing, and repair of mining equipment and machinery.
The position is ideal for candidates with technical backgrounds who want to gain hands-on experience in a heavy industrial and mining environment.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 10 / Standard 8 Technical qualification
- AET Level 4 certification
- Completion of at least one Skills Programme:
- AA Fitting
- AA Diesel Mechanic
- AA Plater Welder
- AA Electrical
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of technical support experience as a Helper/Operator in a heavy industry environment
Additional Requirements
- Psychometric Assessment (to be conducted by Exxaro)
- Certificate of Fitness (to be conducted by Exxaro)
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to perform first-level inspections and basic fault-finding
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment
- Welding, cutting, and installation skills
- Strong awareness of health and safety practices
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork ability
Key Responsibilities
- Assist artisans in servicing, maintaining, and overhauling machinery
- Conduct first-level inspections and identify equipment faults
- Support reactive and scheduled maintenance to ensure equipment reliability
- Perform basic fault-finding and technical analysis
- Recondition components and test repaired equipment
- Carry out welding, cutting, and refractory installation tasks
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace safety
- Report unsafe conditions and comply with SHEC (Safety, Health, Environment & Community) requirements
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times
