Job Overview
Rand Water is seeking Process Control Assistants (X3) to support operations at its Zuikerbosch Water Purification Plant. The successful candidates will be responsible for monitoring purification systems, cleaning equipment, and ensuring safe and efficient plant operations in line with safety standards.
This role is ideal for candidates looking to build or grow a career in water treatment and process operations.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate)
- N3 or NQF Level 4 in Water and Wastewater Treatment Process (advantageous)
Experience
- Previous experience in a water purification plant (advantageous)
- Process Controller classification as per DWS regulations (advantageous)
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to pass the RW K53 test
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic understanding of water treatment processes
- Basic mathematics skills
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Problem-solving and analytical ability
- Good housekeeping practices
- Computer literacy (advantageous)

Key Responsibilities
- Perform desludging of purification systems
- Clean chemical pipework, tanks, and screens
- Isolate and clean process systems and pipelines safely
- Maintain and clean filters and spreader plates
- Remove sand from sand traps for reuse
- Assist with general plant maintenance and cleaning
- Work overtime (planned or unplanned) when required
