Job Overview
Tiger Brands is seeking a General Worker to join its production team in Maitland. This role involves executing manual tasks to support daily production operations while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and food standards.
The ideal candidate will be reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric or equivalent)
- Mathematics and Physical Science (advantageous)
Skills & Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of food safety and occupational safety
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to follow work standards and procedures
Other Requirements
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime
Key Responsibilities
Production Support
- Prepare for production by ensuring all materials and equipment are ready
- Execute daily production and manual operational tasks
- Assist in startup, shutdown, and changeover processes
Packing & Quality Control
- Pack correct quantities into boxes and onto pallets
- Ensure proper sealing and packaging standards
- Check date codes and product quality continuously
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to GMP, food safety, and quality standards
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Follow 5S and “clean as you go” practices
Monitoring & Reporting
- Identify and report production issues such as defects, stoppages, and safety risks
- Monitor machinery in the absence of operators and stop lines if necessary
- Report absenteeism and delays to supervisors
Housekeeping & Waste Management
- Perform waste collection and disposal
- Clean equipment and remove debris regularly
- Inspect for signs of infestation and report issues
Team Contribution
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Support loss capturing and production reporting
- Carry out additional tasks as required by management
