Job Overview
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations and ensures that company standards are maintained across all areas.
This role includes staff supervision, stock control, cash handling, merchandising, and customer service, while also stepping in to lead the store when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist and relieve the Store Manager when required
- Manage banking and cash office operations
- Maintain standards of housekeeping, merchandising, and security
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and policies
- Supervise and support store staff
- Implement controls to minimise stock loss
- Drive sales initiatives to meet store targets
- Ensure strong front-end controls and customer service delivery
Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 (Mathematics advantageous) or NQF Level 4
- Previous experience managing staff or a department
- Retail experience, preferably in clothing/fashion retail (advantageous)
- Strong communication and administrative skills
- Good decision-making and organisational abilities
- Leadership, planning, and productivity management skills
