Job Overview
Afrimat is offering a Health and Safety Internship for graduates looking to gain practical experience in a mining and industrial environment. The programme focuses on safety compliance, inspections, reporting, and supporting SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) processes.
Interns will receive hands-on exposure to real-world safety operations, helping to build a strong foundation in workplace health and safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily safety checks and complete checklists
- Assist with inspections and risk assessments
- Support incident investigations and reporting
- Facilitate toolbox talks and safety inductions
- Update safety notice boards and documentation
- Perform administrative duties such as filing and reporting
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- National Diploma or Degree in Health and Safety or related field
- Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act legislation
- Health & Safety certification (e.g., SAMTRAC preferred)
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure
- Initiative and ability to work independently
