Job Overview
AIIS is seeking a Website Engineer Consultant to support the management and maintenance of the Humanity WordPress Theme. This role works closely with the Lead Website Engineer, Technical Product Owner, and Website Operations team to ensure secure, accessible, and high-performance websites. The consultancy includes contingency support for critical incidents and delivery of new releases according to the development roadmap.
Contract: 52 days over 6 months (2 days per week)
Flexibility: Remote / Flexible location

Key Responsibilities
- Respond to critical website incidents, deploy releases, and provide contingency support.
- Collaborate on development roadmap priorities:
- Improve accessibility, security, and website performance.
- Enhance CMS publishing and workflow for accessible reporting.
- Upgrade multilingual functionality across websites.
- Contribute high-quality front-end and back-end code following coding standards.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to performance, caching, authentication, translations, and queues.
- Ensure robust and scalable enterprise-level website solutions.
Requirements
- Proven full stack development experience with front-end and back-end expertise.
- Experience with large-scale, high-traffic websites.
- Ability to proactively debug technical challenges.
- Strong commitment to human rights, inclusivity, and social change.
- Experience contributing to or leading enterprise web projects.
Desirable Skills:
- UI development for interactive blocks.
- Working knowledge of data, CLI, and servers.
- Familiarity with WordPress theme development at scale.
