Job Overview
We are looking for a passionate Assistant Restaurant Manager to join the Nando’s Empangeni team. This role is ideal for candidates who thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy leading teams, and are committed to operational excellence. You will support the Restaurant Manager in ensuring smooth daily operations, financial management, marketing initiatives, and people development.
Requirements
- Matric certificate
- 2–3 years restaurant management experience (preferred: >3 years)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Preferred: Valid driver’s license and own vehicle
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Ensure correct and effective financial administration per Nando’s policies
- Control expenditure and achieve gross profit margins (stock, waste, pilferage)
- Monitor daily business performance (sales, ticket average, customer count)
Operational Management
- Manage stock control, compliance, and daily audits
- Oversee health & safety, cleaning, and maintenance standards
- Ensure adherence to operational standards and procedures
People Management
- Assist with recruitment, training, rostering, and attendance monitoring
- Support staff development and performance management
- Ensure compliance with disciplinary codes and company policies
Marketing Management
- Support execution of national, regional, and local marketing campaigns
- Respond to customer complaints according to company procedures
- Assist in improving results from mystery shopper reports
Leadership
- Fulfill responsibilities of the Restaurant Manager in their absence
- Promote a positive work environment aligned with Nando’s culture
