The Alliance for Middle East Peace (ALLMEP) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2004, with offices in Europe, Israel, and Palestine.

It leads a network of over 200 civil society organizations, representing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians and Israelis.

ALLMEP advances cooperation, justice, equality, mutual understanding, and sustainable peace in the region.

The organization amplifies the voices of peacebuilders globally while strengthening the capacity and impact of its member organizations locally. Its mission is to promote self-determination for all and foster long-term peace.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director of Communications (DoC) provides strategic leadership and vision across all external communications functions.

The role is responsible for shaping and executing a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with organizational priorities.

The Director oversees messaging, brand positioning, media engagement, digital presence, and content development, ensuring a consistent and impactful voice across diverse audiences including policymakers, donors, media, and the public.

This position also leads communications staff and consultants and serves as the organization’s senior communications expert.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Communications Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with organizational goals
  • Ensure consistency in messaging across all platforms, regions, and audiences
  • Act as the primary steward of brand identity, voice, and external communications

Team & Resource Management

  • Manage and mentor communications staff, interns, and consultants
  • Oversee communications budgets and resource allocation
  • Establish KPIs and systems to measure effectiveness
  • Collaborate with advocacy and development teams for integrated communications delivery

Media & Public Relations

  • Lead media relations strategy across multiple regions
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets
  • Oversee press materials including press releases, op-eds, and advisories
  • Serve as a senior spokesperson when required

Digital Strategy & Content

  • Direct content planning and execution across social media, website, newsletters, and campaigns
  • Ensure digital storytelling aligns with mission and amplifies member voices
  • Support donor engagement and online fundraising initiatives
  • Oversee multimedia projects including podcasts and short films

Publications & Events Communications

  • Oversee production of reports, briefs, and thought leadership materials
  • Ensure strong communications support for events and conferences
  • Promote thought leadership across the organization and its network

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with senior leadership to align communications with strategic goals
  • Identify opportunities to enhance visibility among policymakers, donors, and global audiences

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Experience and Skills

  • 7–10+ years of experience in communications, PR, journalism, or marketing
  • Minimum 3 years in a leadership or management role
  • Proven success in media relations and securing high-level press coverage

  • Experience managing multi-channel communications (press, social, web, email)
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Proficiency with digital tools, CMS platforms, analytics, and email marketing systems

  • Ability to collaborate across departments and manage multiple priorities
  • Experience in strategic messaging, crisis communications, and brand development
  • Familiarity with content creation tools such as Adobe or Canva
  • Experience with paid media, ads management, and budgeting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofit or advocacy environments
  • Knowledge of communications related to the Israeli-Palestinian context
  • Background in international or multi-regional work environments
  • Experience supporting fundraising communications

  • Additional language skills (Hebrew, Arabic, French, or German)
  • Skills in SEO, digital advertising, and email testing strategies
  • Experience in video production, podcasting, or multimedia storytelling
  • Familiarity with donor CRM systems and web management

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • Salary range: USD $75,000 – $100,000 per annum
  • Compensation based on experience and cost of living considerations
