About the Role

GrowthAfrica is seeking a dynamic and experienced senior executive to lead its Finance, Legal Affairs & Administration function. This role sits within the Senior Leadership Team and plays a pivotal part in shaping the organisation’s strategic direction.

This is more than a traditional leadership role—it is central to driving financial sustainability, enabling strategic growth, and ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions. You will be instrumental in aligning ambition with financial reality, designing scalable operational systems, and strengthening organisational performance through data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Operations

  • Lead financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning across all country offices
  • Oversee financial operations including management accounts, payroll, treasury, audits, and cash flow
  • Ensure full compliance with accounting standards and donor requirements

Grant & Funding Management

  • Manage the full grant financial lifecycle, from budget setup to reporting and reconciliation
  • Design and oversee financial instruments for funding entrepreneurs, including disbursement and performance tracking
  • Lead financial modelling and costing for funding proposals and bids

Legal & Compliance

  • Oversee legal affairs including contracts, employment law, data protection, and intellectual property
  • Ensure regulatory compliance across multiple African jurisdictions
  • Support governance processes including Board reporting and risk management

Strategic Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve on the Senior Leadership Team and contribute to organisational decision-making
  • Translate financial data into strategic insights to guide growth
  • Partner with internal teams to align workforce planning with financial and operational goals

Operations & Administration

  • Lead procurement, vendor management, and administrative functions
  • Manage facilities, travel, asset management, and document control systems
  • Design and oversee staff time-tracking and cost allocation systems

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Master’s degree or professional qualification in Finance, Accounting, Law, or Business Administration
  • Preferred certifications: CPA, ACCA, CFA, LLB/LLM, or MBA

Experience

  • 8–10 years of progressive experience in finance, legal, or operations
  • Minimum 3 years in a senior leadership role
  • Experience in multi-country, donor-funded, or development sector environments

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in grant management and donor financial reporting
  • Experience with financial modelling, proposal costing, and budget development
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks across African markets
  • Proficiency in financial systems and data analytics tools

Additional Competencies

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in impact investment, development finance, or enterprise support is an advantage
  • Membership in a relevant professional body is desirable
