This role involves guiding program strategy, strengthening alignment across initiatives, and translating the organization’s solutions framework into tangible global impact.
The Senior Director will ensure the programs operate as a connected ecosystem, linking science, cultural momentum, and capital mobilization to accelerate climate and biodiversity action.
Position Overview
The Senior Director of Programs & Impact will oversee program strategy, development, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and budgets.
This leadership role involves working closely with the Executive Director and senior management to manage teams, foster partnerships, and represent One Earth at key events and with stakeholders.
The candidate should be collaborative, entrepreneurial, and mission-driven, with the ability to connect strategy with execution.
Key Responsibilities
Program Strategy, Leadership & Execution
- Develop and refine program strategies aligned with organizational priorities
- Translate strategy into clear goals, work plans, and success metrics
- Contribute to senior management leadership
- Oversee day-to-day program operations, including the Solutions Finance program
- Identify and address program risks
- Develop and execute partnership strategies
- Support grant writing, reporting, and donor engagement
- Represent One Earth at key events and meetings
- Promote equity, accessibility, and cultural responsiveness in programs
Staff & Contractor Management
- Supervise program staff and manage relationships with contractors and partners
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative team culture
- Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders
Budget Oversight
- Develop and manage program budgets in coordination with leadership
- Monitor expenses and ensure resource stewardship
Monitoring & Evaluation
- Establish and oversee MEL systems
- Track outcomes and impact using data
- Prepare reports for stakeholders
- Use data to improve programs continuously
Qualifications
Required
- 7–10 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, climate initiatives, philanthropy, or related fields
- Deep knowledge of environmental, climate, biodiversity, and social justice issues
- Experience supervising staff and managing complex programs
- Strong financial and budget management skills
- Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical work for diverse audiences
- Experience with program monitoring, evaluation, and learning
- Proficiency with remote collaboration tools like Google Workspace, Slack, Asana
Preferred
- Experience at the intersection of climate, biodiversity, philanthropy, or climate finance
- Familiarity with data systems and dashboards
- Lived or professional experience relevant to the organization’s mission
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders
Physical Requirements
