Job Title: Director, Mothers & Babies (Remote)
Location: Nairobi, Kenya (Remote, must overlap with East Africa timezone by 3 hours)
Closing Date: Friday, May 1, 2026 (or until sufficient applications received)
Contract: Full-Time, with travel up to 1x per quarter for 1-2 weeks

The Director of Mothers & Babies will spearhead the development and scaling of a groundbreaking cash transfer program aimed at improving maternal and newborn health outcomes.

Building on recent evidence that large cash transfers can reduce infant mortality, this role involves leading cross-functional teams, setting strategic hypotheses, designing program models, and establishing evidence-based operations across multiple countries.

The position reports to the VP of Product and requires a dynamic leader capable of managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives in a highly adaptive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Program Development

  • Define and execute the multi-year product vision and strategy for Mothers & Babies
  • Lead hypothesis development, prioritize initiatives, and set clear decision points
  • Design program models that balance impact, feasibility, and scalability
  • Build operational plans including targeting, verification, and delivery mechanisms

Partnership and Delivery Model Building

  • Identify and manage strategic partners including health NGOs, government systems, and health platforms
  • Develop scalable, efficient delivery processes and partner responsibilities
  • Create standardized operating procedures and technology needs assessments

Evidence and Learning

  • Establish measurement strategies and lead the learning agenda
  • Collaborate with research teams to generate robust evidence
  • Communicate impact stories and evidence narratives to stakeholders and donors

Fundraising and Market Positioning

  • Develop compelling narratives for donor engagement
  • Support pipeline development and donor relationships
  • Prepare materials for presentations and negotiations

Cross-Functional Team Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing, cross-functional team
  • Foster a culture of candor, learning, and high standards
  • Ensure alignment across programs, research, partnerships, and technical teams

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience in product management, program delivery, or business development within international development or humanitarian sectors
  • Proven leadership in managing diverse, distributed teams
  • Strong strategic thinking, data-driven problem solving, and influence skills

Compensation and Benefits

United States:

  • Base Salary: $128,000
  • Bonus at Target: $19,200 (~15%)
  • Total at Target: $147,200+
  • Benefits Stipend: $21,393

United Kingdom:

  • Base Salary: £87,500
  • Bonus at Target: £13,125 (~15%)
  • Total at Target: £100,625+
  • Benefits Stipend: £2,760

Kenya:

  • Base Salary: $101,221
  • Bonus at Target: $15,183 (~15%)
  • Total at Target: $116,404+
  • Benefits Stipend: $8,453
