Financial Controller
Role Overview
The Financial Controller is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and usability of GEM’s financial data and systems. Leading the end-to-end accounting function, the Controller ensures trustworthy financial information to support real-time decision-making. Reporting to the Finance & Operations Director, the role involves overseeing financial systems, compliance, and internal controls, with support from an outsourced accounting firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly close process, review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
- Maintain and improve financial forecasts, cash flow projections, and reporting tools
- Lead audit preparation and ensure compliance with nonprofit standards and grant restrictions
- Support cross-functional teams with ad hoc financial analysis and data translation
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive finance experience, including nonprofit accounting
- CPA, CMA, MBA/MPA, or equivalent with experience in audit oversight, grant accounting, and financial reporting
- Proven experience managing complex finances and transitioning to robust systems
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, QuickBooks, and Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Sage Intacct or similar fund accounting software
- Experience working remotely and with multiple entities

- Salary: $131,735.76 annually

Grants Finance Manager
Role Overview
The Grants Finance Manager ensures that all grant funding is accurately tracked, allocated, and spent according to funder requirements.
Collaborating with Program Directors and the Development team, the role involves building and maintaining grant budgets, monitoring spending, and preparing financial reports. The position plays a central role in creating transparency and supporting strategic planning around grants.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate on grant budget development and manage multiple grant budgets
- Track and report on grant expenditures, ensuring compliance with restrictions
- Prepare financial reports for funders and monitor deadlines
- Maintain an organization-wide overview of grant funding and support planning
- Develop tools and processes to improve grant management systems
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience in grant management or nonprofit finance
- Strong understanding of budgets, restrictions, and financial reporting
- Excellent organizational, communication, and spreadsheet skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Fluency in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Nonprofit sector experience and familiarity with grant management systems
- Advanced spreadsheet skills and problem-solving abilities
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $85,186.84 – $106,483.55 annually
