UNDP is seeking motivated and dedicated interns to support its Inclusive Growth and Extractives Team within the Regional Bureau for Africa.

Job Title: Intern – Inclusive Growth
Job Location: Multiple (2 International Remote, 1 Local In-Person)
Closing Date: 24/04/2026
Contract: Internship Programme (Full-time)

The Intern will support the Inclusive Growth and Extractives Team (IGET) within the Regional Bureau for Africa, contributing to initiatives aligned with Africa’s transformative development priorities.

The role offers exposure to regional policy advisory, stakeholder engagement, and the development of integrated solutions that promote inclusive economic transformation, Blue Economy transitions, and regional value chains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct analytical research on Blue Economy, development plans, and regional value chains.
  • Support preparations for Africa Blue Economy Week (ABEW) 2026, including stakeholder coordination and policy research.
  • Assist in operationalizing the Continental Development Plans Register and related frameworks.

  • Develop analytical tools and knowledge products to strengthen regional value chains under AfCFTA.
  • Draft high-level briefing notes, concept papers, technical reports, and communication materials.
  • Support stakeholder engagement with regional bodies, Member States, and private sector actors.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to administrative and knowledge management tasks.

Competencies and Skills

  • Strong interest in international development, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and research skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills in multicultural environments.

  • Ability to organize tasks efficiently and work independently.
  • Sensitivity to cultural, gender, and social diversity.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; graphic design or communication skills are a plus.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Enrolled in or recent graduate of a postgraduate program (Master’s or higher) or a recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Development Studies, or related fields.
  • No prior work experience required; relevant experience is an asset.

  • Understanding of SDGs, the UN system, and international development issues is desirable.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of French is advantageous for international applicants.
