Role Overview

The Communications Associate will support the Communications Team by managing projects, coordinating campaigns, and leading GMH’s social media presence. Reporting to the Communications Lead, this role sits within the Strategic Operations Team and collaborates across program and operations teams globally.

  • Salary: $57,000 – $72,000 USD annually (location-adjusted)

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Coordination

  • Support planning and execution of communications campaigns and initiatives
  • Manage timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communications
  • Coordinate internal communications, meetings, and documentation
  • Maintain organized digital filing systems for content and assets
  • Assist with donor communication materials and storytelling

Events & Grant Support

  • Support planning of virtual and in-person events, convenings, and media engagements
  • Coordinate logistics and prepare communications materials for events
  • Assist in managing communications-related grants, including documentation and compliance

Media Relations Support

  • Maintain media lists and journalist databases
  • Assist in preparing press kits and media materials
  • Track media coverage and produce weekly and monthly reports
  • Monitor media trends relevant to GMH’s work

Digital Content & Audience Engagement

  • Create, edit, and publish content across social media, websites, blogs, and newsletters
  • Track and analyse performance of digital campaigns and content
  • Engage with online communities, influencers, and stakeholders
  • Monitor social media trends and recommend innovative strategies
  • Ensure digital platforms align with GMH’s mission

Financial & Administrative Support

  • Monitor budgets for projects and events
  • Prepare and submit expense reports in line with policies
  • Support ad hoc tasks as required

Candidate Profile

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) with 3+ years’ experience in communications, media relations, or project management
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to simplify complex topics
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools (social media, CMS, email platforms)
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, global environment

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working across multiple countries or with international stakeholders
  • Understanding of climate issues and the non-profit sector
  • Strong cultural awareness and global communication sensitivity
  • Experience in developing countries or global programs
  • Passion for climate action and sustainability
