Role Overview
Climate Central is seeking an inaugural Vice President for Business Development to lead and scale its commercial strategy. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the successful candidate will take ownership of revenue growth, partnerships, and the development of a high-performing Business Development function.

Key Responsibilities
Drive Commercial Revenue
- Lead outbound sales and business development initiatives
- Develop and manage a strong sales pipeline and close deals
- Build strategic partnerships across sectors such as insurance, banking, real estate, and risk analytics
- Negotiate licensing agreements aligned with organizational values
Build & Lead the Business Development Function
- Develop pricing, positioning, and partnership strategies
- Establish scalable sales processes and systems
- Build and lead a growing Business Development team
- Manage a multi-product commercial portfolio
- Provide regular revenue forecasts and market updates to leadership and the Board
Define Strategic Direction
- Translate scientific and technical products into compelling commercial value propositions
- Ensure revenue strategies align with mission and public trust
- Lead go-to-market strategies, including pricing and product packaging
- Collaborate cross-functionally with science, product, communications, legal, and development teams
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong professional network in insurance, reinsurance, climate risk modeling, or related sectors
- Proven success in enterprise-level or technical/data sales
- Demonstrated ability to build and scale a business development function
- Experience managing teams, processes, and multi-product portfolios
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in mission-driven or nonprofit environments
- Knowledge of climate risk modeling, underwriting analytics, credit risk, or geospatial data applications
Preferred Experience
- Experience negotiating data licensing or channel partnerships
- Background in regulated or technical industries
- Experience working with scientific or engineering teams to bring products to market
Compensation
- Base Salary: $185,000 – $195,000 per year
- Eligibility for performance-based annual bonus
- Potential for role expansion and increased compensation as the function grows

Location & Travel
