Role Overview
The Programme Management Assistant (G-5) will support the planning, coordination, and implementation of UNEP programmes and projects across Southern Africa. Reporting directly to the Head of the Sub-Regional Office, the role involves programme administration, budget monitoring, stakeholder coordination, and data reporting.

Key Responsibilities
Programme & Project Coordination
- Assist in planning and preparation of programme and project activities
- Monitor project proposals and documentation for review and approval
- Compile and present data on programme performance and outputs
- Review project documents for compliance with UN procedures
Budget & Financial Administration
- Review budget revisions and verify availability of funds
- Support financial tracking and reporting
- Assist in processing payments, procurement, and disbursement of funds
Administrative Coordination
- Serve as a focal point for programme implementation activities
- Coordinate recruitment, travel arrangements, and training logistics
- Liaise with internal teams and stakeholders across departments
Data Management & Reporting
- Collect, analyze, and present programme data
- Prepare reports highlighting progress, risks, and budget performance
- Support knowledge management and decision-making processes
General Office Support
- Draft correspondence and prepare briefing materials
- Maintain records, files, and administrative systems
- Organize meetings, workshops, and events
- Provide guidance and training to junior staff
Required Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Additional training in Administration, Human Resources, Budgeting, IT, or related fields
Work Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in programme or project administration
- Reduced to 3 years with a university degree
- Experience with the United Nations or similar international organizations (desirable)
- At least 1 year of experience in data analytics or related field (desirable)
Languages
- Fluency in English is required
- Knowledge of French is an advantage

Contract & Recruitment Details
