About the Division

The Public Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Division (PPR) plays a critical role in strengthening partnerships and mobilizing resources to support UNICEF’s global mission.

The Washington, D.C. office works closely with:

  • The United States Government (Executive & Legislative branches)
  • The Government of Canada
  • International Financial Institutions (IFIs), including the World Bank

Role Overview

UNICEF is recruiting two (2) interns to support the PPR North America and IFIs Pillar team in Washington, D.C.

Job Title: Public Partnerships & Resource Mobilization Intern (2 Positions)

  • July 1 – December 31, 2026 (Full-time)
  • September 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027 (Part-time)

This internship offers hands-on experience in:

  • Public partnerships and international development
  • Policy engagement and advocacy
  • Resource mobilization and stakeholder coordination

Interns will contribute to strengthening UNICEF’s visibility and influence while supporting strategic partnerships and high-level engagements.

Key Responsibilities

Research, Analysis & Communications

  • Conduct research and analysis on key policy and development topics
  • Prepare briefing notes, reports, and external communication materials
  • Support knowledge sharing and information dissemination to stakeholders

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships

  • Assist in liaison efforts with U.S. Government institutions and partners
  • Support engagement with foreign missions, think tanks, and IFIs
  • Contribute to relationship management with partners and stakeholders

Events & High-Level Engagement

  • Attend and cover meetings, events, and discussions
  • Prepare summaries and reports for internal stakeholders
  • Support logistics and planning for high-level engagements and visits

Grant Management & Advocacy Support

  • Assist with management and reporting of UNICEF–US Government grants
  • Support advocacy efforts through preparation of program materials
  • Provide updates to partners on UNICEF strategies, programs, and impact

Knowledge Management & Coordination

  • Maintain and update partnership databases and documentation
  • Ensure information is organized and accessible across teams
  • Contribute to internal coordination and knowledge-sharing systems

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, candidates must:

  • Be currently enrolled in or have recently completed (within the past year) a graduate degree in:
    • International Relations
    • Political Science
    • Communications
    • International Development
    • Or a related field
  • Demonstrate strong interest in public partnerships, policy, or development
  • Have excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Be able to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be fluent in English (additional UN languages are an asset)

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid work model (combination of in-office and remote work)
  • Full-time (40 hours/week) or part-time flexibility
  • Interns may take up to 2.5 days off per month
  • Internship may be terminated by either party with two weeks’ notice
