About the Office of Strategy and Evidence (OSE) – Innocenti
The Office of Strategy and Evidence (OSE) – Innocenti, based in Florence, was established in 2026 to strengthen UNICEF’s ability to deliver evidence-based insights and data-driven decision-making.
By integrating global research, analytics, and monitoring functions, OSE plays a critical role in:
- Driving organizational learning
- Supporting strategic planning and programme effectiveness
- Generating high-quality evidence on issues affecting children globally
The Data and Analytics Section focuses on data collection, statistical modeling, and advanced analytics, including machine learning and data visualization.
Internship Overview
The Child Data Analysis Internship offers a unique opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience working with global datasets and analytical tools that inform policies and programmes for children.

Work Arrangement: Full-time (on-site, with potential hybrid/remote flexibility)
Stipend: Approx. USD $1,700/month
Interns will contribute to:
- Quantitative and qualitative data analysis
- Data visualization and reporting
- Cross-sectoral research (health, education, demographics, child protection, and more)
- Evidence generation to support UNICEF’s global mission
This role is ideal for candidates passionate about data science, research, and international development.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Research
- Support statistical analysis using tools such as R, SPSS, Stata, or similar
- Work with large datasets to generate insights and trends
- Contribute to both quantitative and qualitative research outputs
Data Visualization & Reporting
- Assist in presenting complex data through clear visualizations and reports
- Translate technical findings into accessible insights for diverse audiences
Cross-Sectoral Collaboration
- Engage with teams working across sectors such as education, health, and social protection
- Contribute to interdisciplinary research projects
Project & Task Management
- Manage multiple assignments efficiently and meet deadlines
- Adapt to evolving project needs and priorities
OTHER INTERNSHIPS:
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, candidates must:
- Be enrolled in a graduate programme or have graduated within the past year in fields such as:
- Data Science
- Statistics
- Economics
- Public Health
- Computer Science
- Social Sciences or related disciplines
- Demonstrate strong academic performance
- Be proficient in English (written and spoken)
- Have no immediate relatives working within UNICEF
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Excel and statistical software (R, SPSS, Stata, etc.)
- Understanding of data visualization and analytical techniques
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Adaptability and willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or certifications in data engineering, visualization, or advanced analytics
- Experience working with datasets from low- and middle-income countries
- Knowledge of additional UN languages (French, Spanish, Arabic, etc.)
Internship Duration & Conditions
- Duration: 2 to 6 months (starting May 2026)
- Working hours: Full-time (approx. 40 hours per week)
- Location: Primarily on-site in Florence (flexibility may apply)
- Stipend: USD $1,700/month (subject to conditions)

Selected candidates must:
- Provide proof of enrollment or recent graduation
- Submit academic transcripts or references
- Have valid health insurance for the internship duration
- Arrange travel, accommodation, and visa (with support from UNICEF where applicable)
