Role Overview
The Advocacy Intern will support C2ES’s policy and advocacy work, gaining hands-on experience in U.S. climate and energy policy. This role is ideal for candidates interested in federal policymaking, legislative processes, and climate advocacy.
Job Title: Advocacy Intern
Location: Washington, DC, USA (On-site or Remote – select U.S. states)
Job Type: Internship (Summer 2026)
Work Schedule: Up to 37.5 hours/week (Full-time; part-time considered)
Compensation: $20 per hour + transportation stipend (for in-office interns)
You will work closely with the Advocacy team and contribute to initiatives related to permitting reform, innovation policy, and scaling American manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Research & Analysis
- Research Members of Congress and key constituencies to support advocacy strategies
- Analyze legislation, federal rulemaking, and climate policy developments
Advocacy & Communications Support
- Assist in developing advocacy materials and policy communications
- Contribute to written outputs such as blog posts and policy briefs
Monitoring & Reporting
- Track developments in U.S. climate and energy policy
- Provide updates to the Advocacy team on key legislative and administrative actions
Events & Stakeholder Engagement
- Attend and summarize congressional hearings, think tank events, and NGO meetings
- Support engagement with policymakers, agencies, and partner organizations
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in:
- Political Science
- Environmental or Energy Policy
- Economics
- Government or related field
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to understand complex policy topics quickly
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Experience researching legislation or federal policy
- Interest in climate policy and advocacy
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Willingness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment
Work Arrangement
- On-site option: Washington, DC office (preferred)
- Remote option: Available for candidates in select U.S. states (including CA, NY, TX, VA, and others)
- Flexible structure with both full-time and part-time options
Compensation & Benefits
