Role Overview
The Legal Advisor (Consultant) will provide high-level legal guidance across multiple organizations, supporting the development and implementation of collaborative frameworks.
Job Title: Legal Advisor (Consultant) – Impact Alliance
Location: United States or United Kingdom (Remote)
Contract Type: Consultancy (Part-Time)
Start Date: Immediate
Reporting Line: General Counsels of Impact Alliance organizations
This role requires expertise in multi-jurisdictional legal issues, strong coordination skills, and the ability to balance innovation with regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Strategy & Advisory
- Provide strategic legal counsel on governance structures and partnership frameworks
- Advise on dispute resolution and risk mitigation strategies
Data Governance & Technology
- Develop frameworks for data governance and privacy compliance
- Support legal structuring for AI tools, digital platforms, and emerging technologies
Intellectual Property & Compliance
- Design IP frameworks for shared tools and innovations
- Ensure compliance with data protection and regulatory requirements
Procurement & Contracts
- Advise on joint procurement strategies across organizations
- Draft and negotiate inter-organizational and vendor agreements
Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with legal teams across multiple organizations
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel
- Develop templates, training materials, and legal guidance
Deliverables
- Legal memos and advisory notes
- Agreement templates and governance frameworks
- Meeting summaries and progress updates
- Legal input into alliance-wide initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) or qualification as a solicitor/barrister (UK)
- 7–10+ years of legal experience
- Expertise in nonprofit governance and partnership structures
- Experience with U.S. and U.K. legal frameworks
- Strong knowledge of data privacy, IP, and technology law
- Proven project management and stakeholder coordination skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with international NGOs or multilateral organizations
- Background in international or comparative law
- Knowledge of AI governance and digital innovation
- Familiarity with procurement and supply chain legal issues
- Experience managing external legal counsel
