Role Overview
As a Political Strategist, you will sit at the intersection of campaigns, advocacy, and political influence, helping translate momentum into tangible policy and political outcomes.

- Location: Remote (Global – preference for Global South candidates)
- Contract Type: Fixed-term (approx. 2 years, funding-dependent)
- Work Schedule: Full-time (36 hours per week)
- Start Date: 1 July 2026 (preferred)

You will work across global and country teams to identify political opportunities, shape narratives, and influence decision-makers—particularly around fossil fuel phase-out (FFPO) and a just energy transition.
This role is critical in ensuring that 350.org’s campaigns lead to real-world political wins at both national and international levels.
Key Responsibilities
Political Strategy & Campaign Integration
- Provide hands-on political strategy support to global and country teams
- Identify and act on political opportunities (elections, policy cycles, global events)
- Develop pathways from advocacy campaigns to policy outcomes
- Support strategic positioning for key global moments (e.g., COP processes)
Political Influence & External Engagement
- Build relationships with policymakers, political actors, and institutions
- Engage media to shape political narratives and increase pressure
- Represent 350.org as a spokesperson when required
- Participate in coalitions and climate alliances
Internal Coordination & Intelligence
- Align campaigns, communications, and policy teams
- Gather and analyse political intelligence across regions
- Ensure consistent messaging and political framing globally
- Contribute to internal strategy and programme planning
Strategic Development
- Develop political strategies for fossil fuel phase-out and energy transition
- Contribute to international climate processes and frameworks
- Ensure continuity across global climate cycles (e.g., COP31, COP32)
- Provide insights to strengthen organisational political positioning
Organisational Contribution
- Promote equity, justice, and inclusion (JEDI principles)
- Support capacity-building across country teams
- Collaborate across departments and contribute beyond core duties
Candidate Profile
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in political strategy, advocacy, or research
- Background in climate, energy, development, or related fields
- Proven experience influencing political processes and decision-makers
- Strong understanding of climate politics and energy systems
- Experience working across global or multi-country environments
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing relationships with policymakers, media, or political actors
- Experience with international climate processes (e.g., COP, UN, G20)
- Background in campaign strategy and communications integration
- Familiarity with grassroots and movement-building approaches
