Role Overview

Carbon Direct is seeking experienced Technical Due Diligence Consultants to support the evaluation of carbon projects across diverse geographies.

  • Job Title: Technical Due Diligence Consultant
  • Location: Remote (Global)
  • Contract Type: Project-Based / Contract
  • Work Arrangement: Remote with potential field/site visits
  • Start Date: Ongoing / Based on project needs

This is a project-based contract role where you will contribute country-specific expertise to assess project feasibility, risks, and opportunities. The role combines research, analysis, stakeholder engagement, and fieldwork, culminating in detailed written reports that inform investment and climate strategy decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Due Diligence & Analysis

  • Review project documentation and assess technical feasibility
  • Analyse regulatory, economic, and environmental risks
  • Evaluate project design, implementation plans, and expected outcomes

Research & Data Synthesis

  • Gather and interpret data, industry trends, and best practices
  • Provide insights that support robust project evaluation

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Offer specialised knowledge in areas such as land use, forestry, biomass, or carbon removal technologies
  • Assess policy frameworks, supply chains, and stakeholder dynamics

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with project developers, partners, and stakeholders
  • Support informed decision-making through consultations and insights

Fieldwork & Site Visits

  • Participate in site visits where required
  • Conduct interviews, meetings, and on-ground evaluations

Reporting & Recommendations

  • Deliver high-quality written reports outlining risks, opportunities, and recommendations
  • Support clients in understanding project viability and impact

Candidate Profile

Required Experience

  • Experience in technical due diligence, feasibility studies, or impact assessments
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working on complex, multi-stakeholder projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a project-based environment

Areas of Expertise (One or More)

  • Biomass sourcing
  • Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR)
  • Agroforestry
  • Improved Forest Management (IFM)
  • Biochar

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of country-specific policies related to land tenure and carbon rights
  • Familiarity with international frameworks such as Article 6
  • Additional language skills
