Role Overview

As an Entry-Level Data Scientist, you will play a key role in transforming raw environmental data into structured, reliable insights that power Vizzuality’s platforms.

  • Job Title: Data Scientist (Entry-Level)
  • Location: Spain (Remote or Madrid office)
  • Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
  • Salary: €20,000 – €25,000 per year
  • Eligibility: Candidates must be based in Spain, under 30, with a completed university degree

You will work with datasets related to climate change, biodiversity, and sustainability, ensuring data accuracy, transparency, and usability. Your work will directly support tools used by organisations worldwide to make informed environmental decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Data Processing & Analysis

  • Clean, organise, and manage environmental datasets
  • Analyse data related to climate, biodiversity, and sustainability
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and transparency

Data Integration

  • Prepare datasets for use in digital tools and applications
  • Support integration of data into platforms and visualisation tools

Research & Insight Generation

  • Identify relevant datasets and sources
  • Extract insights to support decision-making and product development

Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineers, designers, and scientists
  • Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Candidate Profile

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in a quantitative or scientific field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Environmental Science, Machine Learning, Remote Sensing)
  • Basic knowledge of programming (Python or R)
  • Familiarity with data analysis and cleaning techniques
  • Understanding of GIS or mapping tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
