Role Overview

Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is recruiting an Administrative Assistant to support preparations for the LA 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games at the British Consulate General in Los Angeles.

This exciting opportunity offers candidates the chance to work in a dynamic international environment supporting Team GB and ParalymicsGB while contributing to major global sporting, diplomatic, and cultural events leading up to the LA 2028 Games.

The role will support strategic coordination across government departments, sports organizations, private sector partners, and local authorities in Los Angeles.

About the Role

The British Consulate General in Los Angeles will play a key role in supporting the United Kingdom’s preparations and engagement during the LA 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The successful candidate will work closely with:

  • Team GB
  • ParalympicsGB
  • UK Government departments
  • City, state, and federal authorities
  • Civil society organizations
  • Private sector stakeholders

The role supports public diplomacy, governance coordination, logistics, visits management, security planning, and events connected to the Games.

This position also contributes to wider UK soft power and international engagement objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Governance and Meeting Support (35%)

  • Prepare agendas, briefings, and meeting minutes
  • Coordinate follow-up actions and monitor progress
  • Manage scheduling for the LA2028 delivery team
  • Maintain stakeholder databases and contact systems
  • Build strong relationships with Team GB and ParalympicsGB administrators
  • Maintain effective administrative and record management systems

Visits and Logistics Coordination (25%)

  • Coordinate itineraries for VIP delegations and high-profile visits
  • Arrange transportation, accommodation, venue bookings, and security clearances
  • Build strong local contact networks to support delegation needs
  • Anticipate logistical requirements for future engagements

Field and Site Support (20%)

  • Support visits to key LA 2028 venues
  • Liaise with local authorities regarding event and venue logistics
  • Assist in planning support for Team GB and ParalympicsGB during the Games
  • Coordinate deployment of UK staff and visitor support requirements
  • Support route mapping and operational planning

Planning and Coordination Support (20%)

  • Assist with project management activities related to the Games
  • Support budget tracking, reporting, and stakeholder coordination
  • Maintain event calendars and filing systems
  • Support partnership outreach and contingency planning
  • Assist with Games-related activations and events
  • Process expenses and provide ad-hoc administrative support

Essential Qualifications and Skills

Applicants should possess:

  • Demonstrable professional experience in a relevant administrative or coordination role
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities

Hybrid Working
