Global Ecovillage Network of Europe is a network of intentional communities, ecovillages, and national ecovillage networks working collaboratively to educate, advocate, and innovate toward a regenerative future. About the SOILSTICE Project
SOILSTICE (Strengthening Our Institutions and Localities for Soil Transformation, Inclusion, and Civic Engagement) is a 36-month Horizon Europe Coordination and Support Action running from September 2026 to August 2029.
The project brings together 20 partners across 11 European countries to co-create and implement Territorial Management Agreements (TMAs) that support participatory soil governance and measurable soil health outcomes.
Within the consortium, GEN Europe leads key work packages focused on:
- Capacity building
- Inclusive engagement
- Funding sustainability
- Community participation strategies
Role Overview
GEN Europe is seeking an experienced and highly organised Project Manager to lead the delivery of the organisation’s responsibilities within the SOILSTICE project.
The successful candidate will coordinate consortium relationships, oversee project deliverables, manage internal work planning, and ensure compliance with Horizon Europe grant requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
The role involves close collaboration with the Development Manager, Financial Manager, Education Manager, General Coordinator, and project partners across Europe.

Key Responsibilities
SOILSTICE Project Delivery
- Lead GEN Europe’s three SOILSTICE task areas, including training activities, capacity building, and engagement strategies
- Take ownership of all four GEN Europe-led project deliverables
- Represent GEN Europe in consortium meetings and communications with project coordinators and partners
- Maintain internal project work plans and monitor progress against milestones and deadlines
- Identify and manage project risks proactively
- Ensure compliance with Horizon Europe grant agreement requirements
- Support technical reporting, budget monitoring, and timesheet coordination alongside the Financial Manager
- Scope and support recruitment of additional project staff as required
Portfolio-Wide Contribution
- Support the coordination of GEN Europe’s wider EU-funded project portfolio
- Contribute to new project development, proposal drafting, partnership building, and funding research
- Share knowledge and strengthen internal learning on Horizon Europe project management and facilitation methodologies
Events and Community Engagement
- Support integration of SOILSTICE activities into the annual European Ecovillage Gathering
- Coordinate logistics for workshops, training sessions, facilitator activities, and pilot site visits
- Assist with participant communications and travel coordination
Essential Requirements
Applicants should demonstrate:
- At least 2 years of experience managing EU-funded projects, ideally Horizon Europe projects
- Strong understanding of Horizon Europe grant obligations, reporting, and compliance requirements
- Experience coordinating multi-partner international consortia
- Excellent written English and experience producing professional project deliverables and reports
- Knowledge of participatory governance, inclusive facilitation, or community-led development
- Strong organisational and project coordination skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and cross-partner workflows
- Confidence working remotely within international and horizontal team structures
- Willingness to travel within Europe approximately 15 days per year
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
The following will be considered an advantage:
- Experience with Horizon Europe CSA or RIA projects
- Background in soil governance, rural development, land stewardship, or citizen science
- Experience delivering facilitator training or capacity-building programmes
- Knowledge of Erasmus+, LEADER, CAP, or other EU funding instruments
- Familiarity with the ecovillage movement and regenerative community initiatives
- Experience contributing to EU funding proposals
- Understanding of sociocracy or non-hierarchical organising models
- Additional EU language skills including French, German, Spanish, or Italian
